Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Ron Himler attended the Cleveland Institute of Art where he majored in painting and illustration. In 1972 he illustrated his first children’s book, “Glad Day and Other Classical Poems for Children”. In the following years Ron went on to illustrate more picture books for children, becoming one of a very few working artists in the world to illustrate more than 150 children’s books, and still at it today. In addition to children books, Ron has also painted hundreds of book covers for young adult novels. His work has been featured in Art of the West magazine, and on PBS television. Ron’s work on the Plains Indians culture is in private and public collections, including the Bennington Museum and the Booth Western Art Museum.
